MESSAGES

Back in Florida. We finally returned home a few days ago. I have been at Mom's condo everyday trying to sort some of her things and clean out things. I believe this is going to take some time and I thought it would be a quick project. The kitchen is almost finished but every time I start in a bedroom, I find old family papers, photos, letters or something that I have to stop, look at and read. I was going to toss it but Larry had me bring it home as we have a book with some information on my Dad's and Mom's family and these things should be saved. Thanks to all who sent their prayers, condolences and/or cards. Even though I knew Mom probably wouldn't last much longer and was prepared for her death, it was difficult for a couple days. Please don't overload us with emails now as I don't spend a lot of time on the computer but wanted to get a note sent since Larry had told you about Mom and our being gone for a week or so. Larry has been sick the last two days and hasn't been out of bed. Even though it was cold and snowy in Michigan, we didn't get chilled so I think it was either from the crowd in the plane or allergies since returning to Florida. I need to meet the medical company at Mom's. They are picking up the hospital bed and I need to call on some of the other things she has (wheel chair, walker, etc) and see if I can donate them to hospice. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness. Love, Carol.

Carol's Mom passed away at 1:30 AM Saturday morning 20 February. The funeral will be Wednesday or Thursday in Detroit, MI. We are planning on flying out on Monday 22 February and will probably be gone for a week. Please hold the email from Tuesday 22 February until 4 or 5 March. We will let you know when we return. Larry and Carol. Email: powers-lc-0491@att.net

Looking for my father, John (last name unknown) who was stationed in Rota, Spain in 1965. He is Italian and came from New Jersey. I  have a picture of him and that is all. John has no idea I even exist. I need to know my father’s medical history because my son, who is now fifteen, has a liver disease. Roy Aders, the man whom I thought was my father, was also stationed in the Navy base. John, the man who is my dad, would come to some of the parties that my mom would attend and they got me. It is a sad thing that after all these years I find out who my dad is but that’s the way it is. Please know that I am only looking for my dad’s health history. I am not trying to invade his life. Please someone help me. I love my son and he needs this information. Dina Post, 140 Woodland Dr. Uncasville Ct 06382. Phone: 860-235-9243. Email: dina_post@yahoo.com

Hello. I was at the Marine Barracks between 1979 and 1982. I was not a guard but was being held at the barracks to go to Spanish trial. There were a lot of great guys at the barracks then. Many offered to help to me. Thanks to everyone there at the time. William D'Ambrosi. Home Address: PO Box 774, Nassau, N.Y. 12123. Phone: 518-766-9171. wdambrosi@yahoo.com

Hello, Margaret Mary. Go to http://www.mcrdmuseumhistoricalsociety.org/index.htm to order your dad's' graduation photo and book. You need your dad's platoon number to order. Check his DD214 to see if it has his platoon number. If not, perhaps your mom, other family members, or old friends have letters from your dad with his Boot Camp return address. I salute you for keeping your father's memory alive. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Angel Moreno. DevilDog4Ever@yahoo.com

Looking for Marines who served with my husband, James Malicki, at the Marine Barracks in Rota, Spain from February 18, 1964, through February 23, 1966. Jim died at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville on July 6, 2007 following a year of tremendous suffering from the disease Amyloidosis and its complications. Amyloidosis is a presumptive service related disease due to exposure from pesticides and herbicides. My question: Is there a possibility that Agent Orange was either used on that base or stored in a warehouse for shipment to Vietnam during that time. Any information regarding this would be sincerely appreciated. Marie Malicki. Home Address: 4511 Rainbow Ct., Loves Park, IL  61111. Phone: 815-708-6415. Email: malickim@comcast.net
